where is Tatum’s a game?

Ever since he ‘boomed’ LeBron in the playoffs as a rookie, all eyes have been on Jayson Tatum.

Nothing has changed at the start the 2023-2024 campaign.

Tatum won the first Eastern Conference Player of the Month for the season - averaging 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists per night on 61.2% TS.

The most important stat was the Celtics record: 11-4. Enough to head into December 1st in the East.

But this wasn’t Tatum’s best, and not even really close.

In fact it doesn’t even crack his ‘top 10’ months in scoring, in assists, in steal, in blocks, in 3PM/G, etc.

Just comparing it to his November run last year, the Celtics went 14-2 as he averaged \ 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists a game.

So has he maxed out as a player? Are we going to see another level from him?

I’m going with the ladder, and we’ll be seeing ‘MVP’ Tatum coming out to play very soon.

In a sense, his career is “just” beginning as he enters his 7th season. Recently, we saw Giannis and Jokic win titles in their 8th seasons. Kawhi was in his 8th season when he won his first title as a #1. They all “beat” LeBron by a year, who won his first title in his 9th season. Only Steph Curry has won one ‘sooner’ for this generation, winning his first title and starting the Warriors historic championship run in his 6th season.

The next step I see for Tatum? A 35+ points a game over the course of a month with only one loss, propelling him straight to the top of the MVP race and getting fans all across the league talking.

But for Boston fans, I’m guessing they’re going to hold their real excitement for what’s to come in June.
